Big Brother

The Housemates were woken from their slumber this morning by the same ominous bell toll that first signalled Terri’s exit on Day 1.

Inside, the Housemates stirred in bed while outside, in the Kombi, Michael sat bolt upright and muttered, “Amen.”

“It’s time mate,” Nobbi said. “It’s time big man.”

“At least there’s no party in the yard,” Nathan keenly observed from beside Nobbi. Both Michael and Nathan had chosen to spend what might have potentially been their last night in the House in the cosy Kombi.

“This is Big Brother. All Housemates to the Garden immediately.”

Not wanting to put Big Brother offside so early in the morning, the Housemates clambered out into the Backyard with much haste. No time for a toilet stop or a morning coffee, BB got down to business.

“Housemates, the sun has risen. It is time for your second Snap Eviction. Barney, Nathan, Michael: two of you must go. One of you will stay. Corey has decided not to accept his mission therefore the decision is Terri’s.”

Corey (head bowed and buried in his hoodie sans sunglasses) did not make eye contact with the rest of the group while Terri (sporting a dashing dressing gown) stood on the Garden stage with her arms folded looking glum.

“Terri,” Big Brother continued, “who do you choose to evict first and why?”

“I choose to evict Michael,” Terri announced. “I sort of question his motives for being here. I think he only really wanted to be on Big Brother to prove he could be the most popular person in Australia."

“On the internet,” Michael qualified.

“And I think he’s done that,” Terri smiled. “He’s proved it.”

“Michael you are Evicted from the Big Brother House,” BB boomed across the Backyard. “Say your goodbyes now.”

Michael got up and shook everyone’s hands - Rory and Travis choose to embrace the punk rocker in a hug before disappearing through the cloud-adorned door on the stage.

Big Brother then called for Terri to announce the second evictee, “Terri who do you choose to evict second and why?”

“This was pretty hard,” Terry looked at her feet. “With consultation from everyone the unanimous decision was Barney. After asking Barney originally how long it took him to get on Big Brother, it turns out Nathan was about the same.

"And everybody seemed to think Barney had a lot more to do on the outside. A lot more he wanted to do and achieve and Nathan would probably make more of the experience in the House than you Barney. So that’s the reason why.”

“I’d actually agree anyway,” Barney smiled. “I reckon you’d be a better Housemate than me,” he offered to Nathan.

Barney climbed onto the stage and gave Terri a peck on the cheek before giving his farewells to the rest of the HMs. There were hugs and kisses all round and then Barney, like Michael before him, disappeared through the door never to return to the Big Brother House.

The Housemates clapped for Nathan, congratulating him on the fact that he made the cut.

Just when the Housemates were going to trudge back to bed, Big Brother had another surprise announcement, “Terri you have chosen Nathan to remain as a Housemate, why?”

“Why?” Terri giggled. “Basically for the reasons I just said. I think he wants to achieve more in the House than Barney did and Barney had a lot more to do in the outside. And 85% of the Housemates would have preferred to keep Nathan and personally after talking with both of them: I’d prefer to keep Nathan.”

“Nathan,” Big Brother said. “Congratulations. You are still a Housemate.
 
“Terri, Big Brother gave you a mission to chaperone Corey. It was a tough ask. You tried but you failed. However, when turning down the opportunity to evict two Housemates, Corey handed you a second mission. Big Brother had no choice but to ask you to take on and execute a very tough decision.

“Terri your mission is over. Your mission was successful. Terri you are reinstated as a Big Brother Housemate. You are back in the game.”

“Yay!” Terri gave a small cheer and then observed, “I didn’t see everyone clap.” And she was right, the reception was paltry.
