As National Nanna Day drew to an end, BB suggested the HMs get Terri’s robe and some warm milk and they all settle down for some story time with Terri in the Bedroom. Ben was even permitted inside to huddle around the BB Granny and hear a tale of lurve...

As HMs had been talking about the opposite sex, it was suggested Terri talk about dating when she was a girl. Alice told Terri the story should be about her own experiences. “Alright, my first boyfriend and I met at school…” Terri began. HMs gathered round and began playing up like little kids. “Nanna can you tell us a story?” requested Rory and the other HMs chimed in. “Are you going to listen or are you going to muck around?” Terri demanded. The kids hushed and let her restart her story.

“At my first high school, no one was interested in me ... then at my last high school I had guys flocking over me like you wouldn’t believe,” Terri shared. Ben was clearly impressed. “That’s ‘cause you’re good!” he laughed. putting on an accent. Alice said she must have been good looking. “Was that because you put out Terri?” Rory blurted. Terri snapped back, “No I did not!”

Terri said her first date was when she was 15, which was quite normal in those days. “He was the most popular boy in the high school and he chose me - how’s that?” she boasted. Terri said recently he had found her on an internet dating service and wrote to her, all these years later. “He remembered me - can you believe that?” she posed. “So this internet stuff’s really good!” she professed to the group, who were all aware of Terri’s admiration of dating services.

Terri shared a few tid bits of info about intimate relations with boys and stories about going bowling and heading out on picnics with her second boyfriend.  She told them he was 17 and didn’t have a car so they’d walk everywhere. Travis was astounded. “I can’t believe it… that’s crazy,” Rory reiterated.

By the time she’d moved on to her third boyfriend, Terri said she’d moved out of home and was living with her Grandma. “My Grandma took me to a club with her,” Terri started, remembering the day she met the lucky boy. “A night club?” questioned Travis. Terri relayed that she was only 16, and it was a club where there were pokies and a bar, but it was during the middle of the day. “This guy across the [way], he winked at me and I thought omigod! You are cute! I winked back,” Terri smiled. She remembered that he came over to the table and asked her grandparents if he could take her out. Terri said her Grandpa wasn’t keen, but her Grandma granted permission.

“We went out parking,” Terri explained. Travis didn’t know what she meant, nor did Ben. “What’s parking?” Ben asked. “Park the car and have sex in it,” Alice said very matter-of-factly. “No, we didn’t do that, I was a good girl … not that time I didn’t,” Terri revealed with a cheeky glint in her eye. She said he was quite a bit older than her and had been to Vietnam, so he was quite grown up for his age. “I loved him, he was my first love,” she admitted longingly. But she added the age difference ended up tearing them apart, as he believed she was too young for him. “I guess I was, but it broke my heart immensely. Absolutely broke my heart,” Terri reminisced.

Travis asked Terri what other things she got up to with her boyfriend. “Travis! What do you think we did?” Terri said suggestively. “No, besides the sex,” Travis inquired. “Back in those days, your parents didn’t just let you go home and have sex in your own bed ... you had to go parking,” giggled Terri. But Travis wanted to know about dates - where did they go? What did they do? Terri said they just went to parties, like 21sts or engagement parties.

Terri then told the HMs about the day she met her first husband at an ice skating rink. “He picked me up,” Terri explained, remembering him skating backwards and talking to her. She revealed their first date was at a Chinese restaurant. “Then what did you do afterward?” Travis asked. Terri just smiled and HMs laughed at Travis’s line of questioning once more.

HMs enjoyed quizzing Terri about her dating history. She was the centre of attention and all eyes were on her. This Nanna seemed to be a new woman - she had set the negativity aside in favour of speaking about love and life… and the HMs were all ears.
