“Housemates,” BB began ominously, after calling all HMs to the Diary Room. “Tonight, you will fend for yourselves. The Diary Room is out of bounds.” Slow smiles spread across the HMs’ faces. “Housemates, tonight you are Big Brother.” BB instructed the Housemates to move the Diary Room chair out into the Lounge. He gave them a megaphone and told them they should each take a turn at pretending to be BB – and to make sure they stayed out of sight of the HM in the Diary Room chair while they did it.
“You must all Nominate,” BB said, setting them a cheeky pretend task. “The Nominations must be as if you’re Nominating for real. Alice is the first to Nominate and Terri will be Big Brother. When HMs have Nominated, they will become BB.”
The excited HMs liked the idea of assuming BB’s identity and somewhat nervous about revealing their Nomination motives, they dragged the Diary Room chair out to the Lounge and began the proceedings.
Alice sat in the chair as Terri raised the megaphone to her lips. “Alice, as you know it is Nomination night,” Terri boomed. “Who do you Nominate and why?”
Alice stared straight ahead as she replied. “For two points, I’ll nominate Rorza. … Friendship means the world to me and he intimidates me.” For one point, Alice threw Ben a rather blunt arrow. “Tezza and Travy are what I would always characterise as the ideal BB HMs. Therefore, they’ve put 110% in to every aspect of the BB house - and unfortunately Ben is left.” BB Terri thanked Alice.
Alice was next to tackle the role as Big Brother. “Terri, to the Diary Room,” she said through the megaphone. Terri delivered her Nomination points swiftly. “My two points would have to go to Ben,” she said. “I feel that I’m not as close to Ben as the other three HMs. Even though I do like him a lot, I feel that I’d rather see the others win.” For one point, Terri nominated Travis, who looked a little stunned. “Even though we are quite close, I have to give one point to somebody,” Terri reasoned. “I feel that maybe if he won the money, it would not be wisely spent.”
Ben and Rory were the next BB and HM role play volunteers. “Who do you Nominate for two points and why?” BB Ben asked Rory. “I nominate Alice, I don’t feel as close to her as the other HMs,” Rory replied, perhaps unsurprisingly. “For one point at this stage of the series, I nominate Travis,” Rory delivered. Travis’s face visibly fell. “Because I want the person who wins the money… for the money to make a major influence in their life and get them a head start and I don’t feel that if Travis wins, he will do that with the money.”
Rory assumed the role of BB as Ben made himself comfortable in the Diary Room chair. “For two points, I’ll give [them] to Travy,” Ben said. “Out of the remaining HMs, I least want him to win based on what he intends to use it for. It’s an admirable and an awesome cause and I would do it in his position, but from my perspective as a HM going through so much and so many Evictions and so much trouble to get to where we are at this stage of the series… I would like to see the money be used to influence one of our lives. I would like to see one of the remaining five change their live completely.” While Travis reeled, Ben dropped his final point towards Terri. “I’m going to be a strategic dog and say Terri, ‘cause she’s going to win and I want the money!” Ben and Terri both laughed.
Travis, the HM with the most fake Nomination points, was last to assume the position. “For two points I’m going to be a superficial Housemate and choose Terri,” he started. “Because last week, she got a little bit frustrated with my slow cooking style.” BB Rory said, “Travis, for one point - who do you choose to Evict and why?” Travis gave his “second best friend” a point. “I choose to Nominate Benny boo boo boo, despite being my second best friend and being very close in conjunction with all of the other HMs,” Travis tried to explain. “I think I’m going to be superficial once again and say that I think Ben thinks I’m stubborn, so I’m going to Nominate Ben for one point.”
The HMs giggled and played with the megaphone and “out in the open” Diary Room chair, before BB once again returned to duties and the House was restored to order.
But the question remains… will the Nomination revelations – pretend though they may be – have any lingering effect on the Housemates’ relationships?
