“I think Ben’s doing really, really well. Ben was a little bit subdued due to the larger personalities in the House and as they’re left, he has started to shine a bit more – his sense of humour is very dry and some people might have taken that wrongly at the start, but now he is starting to look really witty.
Ben has a really cheeky dry side that you just can’t not like – his sense of humour is his winning trait. And he is also very loyal. His respect and loyalty for the people he is close to in the House has really shone through. He is also very opinionated and he is always willing to speak his mind and that’s what I admire.
My favourite moment of Ben in the House was when he smashed the water tank accidentally and was made to live in the Kombi. That was the accumulation of a lot of funny events. Living in the Kombi gave Ben a chance to express his individual traits and humour. Being in the Kombi is a blessing, not a curse.
The hardest thing to watch was probably Ben’s first week – because he really was shattered that people voted for him in the Snap Eviction. Before he went into the House, he said the only thing he didn’t want to happen was that he was the first or second to go – and I could see that really threw him. After that, he spent those first weeks trying to see how he would fit in and with who.
Everyone is really proud of Ben. He has managed to get so far in the game, just by being himself. His mates and family are very proud. Some people have made out that he’s a rich kid, but he’s not at all. The money would certainly change his life.
More importantly, winning would make a huge difference to Ben’s confidence. He doesn’t always see that people like him and understand that he’s a nice person. He is always struggling with self-acceptance. I think getting to this stage of the game will allow Ben to become a lot more comfortable with himself.”
