“The hardest moment for me was watching Mum go on the first night – then being put back in and wondering how she would fit in with everyone after all that had happened. The best moment… where do I start? Probably her efforts at Friday Night Games. I love how Mum is always up for anything – whether it’s running the gauntlet or whatever. She gets involved regardless of how old she is.

Mum is very hard on herself – particularly because she’s always been told she is negative. I think she is mellowing in the House because she has been given the opportunity to be herself. I think Mum’s realism has appealed to people – she has always said that she’s the kind of person who says what everyone else is thinking.

Dawson [her Grandson] has certainly not forgotten her! He has been brainwashed by the Big Brother theme music… when he hears it, he comes running! He watches the show and when Mum’s not on the screen he says, ‘More, more!’

Mum has been such a support for us all of our lives. She has done so much for my brother and I. We’re just glad she got to have the experience she wanted. She has slogged her guts out for 26 years and has always been such a stable point in our lives. She’s worked really hard and been totally focused on making our lives as stable and good as they can be.

She is just the kind of person who doesn’t care about the backlash of what she says, if she believes in it. She is willing to challenge what she doesn’t think is right and stick up for herself or anyone else she believes in. She won’t ever stick to the company line – she’ll always take things as they come along and she’s very honest.

The Terri you see on TV is the one I know and love. She is honest, friendly, takes her time to get to know people, never holds a grudge and is a genuine Aussie. I’m just so proud of her.”
