When HMs started chatting about the power of positive thinking, Terri quickly tried to shut them down dismissing the theory as utter rubbish… perhaps earning herself the nickname of Negative Nanna.

“If I wake up in the morning and think it’s going to be a good day, I can guarantee it turns out shit. If I think it’s going to be a shit day I can guarantee it turns out good,” Terri declared. “No one will ever convince me that [positive thinking] works!”

Rory was frustrated and sighed to Terri, “You’re obviously negative!” Bianca explained although Terri might start the day well, she’s just waiting for the fall. Terri rebutted, “Nah I’m not waiting for something to go wrong but when it does I just think, oh, that’s because I said it was going to be a good day!” The group erupted with a choir of ‘exactly!’

Using hypothetical situations, HMs tried to show Terri how to be optimistic. Though she listened she didn’t think there was anything wrong with her line of reasoning and claimed that she wasn’t negative. “I’m a realist,” Terri stated.

Nobbi tried to highlight the group’s view. “Terri can I make a point here? You say a lot of people in the House and a lot of people on the outside call you negative. Is there not a common denominator?”

The HMs talked about Terri’s introduction on the first night and recalled her long spiel about all the adversity she had encountered and how hard her life had been. Brigitte told her it was just sad and depressing, not something the HMs wanted to listen to. “I didn’t see it like that at all,” Terri rebuffed.

Rory and Bianca explained the importance of having the right mindset.  “I wake up and I have a really good thought then I finish my day with a good thought and thinking nice things,” reasoned Bianca. “What if someone ran up the ass of your car, would you go home thinking happy thoughts that day?” smirked Terri.

Rory was getting irritated. No matter how hard the group tried, they couldn’t get through to Terri. “Even when a negative happens, try to think positive,” urged Rory. “You can still be realistic but if you think more positive then good things will happen.”

But Terri was set in her ways. She said she’s quite happy as a person, claiming that people judged her because her mouth was naturally in a frown. “You do have a permanent frown,” observed Brigitte. “[But] I think that’s because you’ve been frowning for a while.”

HMs couldn’t understand why Terri refuse to see their reasoning. “In Terri’s defense, we quite often do tend to gang up on her. It’s always five against one and I think she does feel like she has to defend herself,” Ben concluded.

The group agreed they should step into Terri’s shoes but Bianca conceded that it was the way Terri handled these issues that caused such distress within the House. The conversation crumbled, and though Terri took the group’s comments on board she seemed to have the same answer for everything - she’s not negative, just a realist.

As the group dispersed, Rory had a word in Terri’s ear and maybe, the question coming from her beloved Rory made all the difference. Terri agreed that she would at least try to be more positive. “I’ll do it just for you Rory,” Terri smiled.

Not so long ago Terri had all the HMs off-side when she got a second shot at life in the House.
