Ignoring the obvious is no easy feat, as the Housemates discovered this week. Averting their eyes from strange sounds and even stranger sights proved quite a challenge. A challenge, it seemed, that the HMs just weren’t up for – when the report card came in Big Brother’s comments read ‘easily distracted’.
Can you blame them? From blood red showers to full-scale marching bands, it all proved too tempting. Still the Housemates persevered. But when Big Brother rolled out the final few diversions – it was hard for the HMs to tear their eyes away!
THE HIGHLAND DANCERS
Settling in for a quiet night spa-side, the Housemates weren’t ready for some after-dinner entertainment but by golly did they get it! Skipping out of the cloudy door was a bagpipe player with highland dancers in tow.
As opposed to turning a blind eye, the Housemates put their best foot forward and joined the dancers on stage for a boogie.

METER MAIDS
From dancers to models, Ben was the first to notice that a bevy of scantly-clad meter maids had appeared behind the Rewards Window.
“Hey! Check it out! Oi boys!” Ben called for back-up.
Terri was not impressed, “You’re supposed to ignore them,” before adding, “You could’ve sent some guys in for us.” Terri then bent over and wiggled her bottom in what may have meant to be a form of protest. The Meter Maids cheered the Grandma.
“Get your bikini Bridgey!” Alice yelled. “Brigitte you’re hotter than them.” But Brigitte was not keen on the idea. Or on the boys’ reactions.
Cherry kissed one of the Maids through the glass while Rory took a more relaxed approach, “Screw this man,” perching himself on the lounge for a perv.
“Rory looks like a dog on heat,” Renee screeched. “If I was them I’d think that you were a c*ck head.”

THE FIREWORKS
After FNL, the Housemates were taken aback when one half of their Backyard was lit up by an assortment of colourful fireworks. Again, the Housemates stopped and stared. And again, they failed to ignore the obvious.
“Whoa,” Bianca oohed. “It smells like New Years Eve,” shouted Travis. “I love these ones!” Alice shouted, pointing at the sky. Bianca was equally mesmerized: “They’re so pretty.
“Are we meant to ignore this?” Nobbi asked.
“Yeah.” Travis answered, nonplussed.
“Well, we failed.” Nobbi shrugged. Nobody seemed perturbed.
Ben looked incredibly happy, “Thank you Big Brother.”
“That was cool.” Renee cooed.

THE BIKERS
The next day – and final day of the task – the Housemates were enjoying a sun-drenched afternoon in the Backyard playing Bocce when the Target Doors opened to reveal a posse of motorbike riders.
Brigitte’s face widened in horror. “What are they doing!?” she screeched.
The other HMs were not as worried, clapping the cavalcade of bikers as they poured into the BB compound.
“There’s so many! Look how many there are!” Brigitte twirled around on the spot. “Get on ‘em!”
The Housemates near attacked the cyclists, climbing on the back of the bikes, laughing hysterically as they did so. Terrence, who had been sweeping, raised his broom high above his head and refused to get off.
“Get off Terrence you idiot!” Brigitte shouted at the top of her lungs. It worked, Terrence obeying Bridge’s orders.
“We were wondering what was going to happen today and now we know,” Terri laughed.
“Nothing.” Alice smiled suggestively. “We had a party for Ollie. We just got a sugar high.”

THE RESULTS
“This is Big Brother,” BB’s voice boomed around the Backyard. “Housemates to pass this week’s task the rules were simple – all you had to do was ignore the obvious. All week BB’s rules were obviously ignored. Housemates, in this week’s task – you have failed miserably.”
“Oh God,” Terrence mock-sighed. “That’s a surprise isn’t it everybody?”
“Big Brother hopes you have better luck next week,” Big Brother stated.
The Housemates were quite positive in the face of their defeat, ignoring the obvious bad result. But it was a skill learned just a tad too late.
