The Kombi mobile phone was the first of many difficulties TnT were to encounter in their new home. Terri picked it up and couldn’t understand what she did to make it ‘play music’. The oldies were confused. BB stepped in and informed the duo that the music was actually the phone ring tone. “Yeah,” said Terri, still not sure about the appropriate course of action. BB instructed her to answer it.

But how? Terri and Terrence didn’t know how to answer this modern contraption?  “Which is the answer button?” Terri inquired. Terrence had no idea. “How do ya answer the bloody thing?” Terrence exclaimed.

TnT finally worked out how to use the Kombi phone and talked to BB about being thrown in the Kombi.  “I knew this was going to happen but I certainly didn’t expect to be accompanied by the lovely Terrence in here,” Terri informed BB. However, she said she was going to try and make the most of it. As for Terrence, he was determined to not let the new situation get the better of him.  “I feel privileged to be in here with a good Australian citizen,” Terrence said of his Kombi mate Terri.

BB asked TnT whether the sticker ‘if the Kombi is a rockin don’t come a knockin’ is needed on the van?  Terrence joked the only stimulating thing in the Kombi will be the conversation but he didn’t want to part with the sticker.  “We are love children and of the sixties and seventies,” Terrence explained to BB doing the peace sign.  “It takes me back to my teenage years,” Terri reminisced.

It was their first night in the Kombi and though it took HMs some convincing to bring them their glasses of warm milk before bed, the two eventually nodded off to a great sleep.

The next morning Ben asked about Terrence’s big night in the Kombi with Terri.  “We slept like a log in there,” Terrence informed him.  “Snoring in tune … It was the snoring that was making it [the Kombi] rock,” Terrence suggested. Ben just nodded.

But there were more plans for the humble Kombi Van.  Just as Nobbi’s ride was pimped, BB had plans for the Grey Nomad’s new mobile.

“Terri, Terrence as you are the Grey Nomads, BB has provided some garden furniture and some grey paint for you to spruce up your Kombi,” BB announced.  “Grey paint?” TnT shouted in unison confused about what BB had planned.  They discovered BB had made some changes to their new home including some special additions for their trip to nowhere.  Very excitedly they inspected their Kombi Home,  “Oh beauty.  Oh, bloody ripper,” Terrence exclaimed.

The HMs quickly joined the pair, keen to be a part of the latest Kombi make over.  Eager to grab the grey spray paint and get to decorating, the youngins’ took control.  “Why don’t we come up with some artistic idea to spray paint the wagon?” Terrence put to the group.  HMs crowded around and all offered suggestions about how the Kombi should be decked out for the Grey Nomads.

Rory had an epiphany. “We could full make stuff with the tape,” Rory announced proposing artistic tape patterns under the spray paint that would peel off to reveal their masterpiece.  “You go for your life Rory,” Terrence permitted.  Cherry said it’s TnT’s Kombi so they should be able to do what they wanted.  The only thing Terrence and Terri wanted was a ‘G’ and an ‘N’ for Grey Nomads.  The rest they left to the HMs.

“Hey young fella, I need to sit down, I’m old,” Terrence told Travis, kicking him out of his garden chair.  Terri sat beside them and they supervised as the rest of the HMs got to work decorating their Kombi. “This is the way we let the young kids use their creativity,” Terrence whispered to Terri.

“I don’t know what Nobbi was whinging about this is a lovely place,” Terrence proclaimed as he reclined in the sun lazing the day away.  Terri agreed that it wasn’t so bad after all.

“Well, the kids are having fun doing this,” Terri said to Terrence, as the HMs hovered around the Kombi like bees buzzing around the hive.  Terrence said he enjoyed watching the youngsters get creative and it was stimulating for them.  “Let’s them use a bit of creativity and take control every now and then,” Terrence rambled.  “We look after the Grey Nomads in this House,” Travis declared.

While watching the kids get to work, TnT talked about the good old days. Terri told a heartfelt story about her childhood and then about her falling out with her parents.  Terrence didn’t get much of a word in for once as Terri relayed the story of her life.

Soon the out pouring of artistic expression from the youngins’ was finished, their creative bones exhausted - it was time to wait for the paint to dry.  “We set the goal and then look what happens, we end up with something like this,” Terrence commended the boys for doing such a good job.  “I happy to put my name to that Terrence,” Travis announced. “I’m going to spray paint my dad’s car like this,” he continued.

A few hours layer the van was dry and the boys were excited to see their handiwork.  “Oh that looks cute,” Terri sighed as Rory peeled off some of the tape. The HMs had drawn pictures of themselves along the side of the van as well as added love hearts and flowers to add some decorative touches to the Grey Nomads’ Kombi home.  “How good does it look!” Travis yelled. “The oldies got hooked up,” Ben said, impressed by the new look Kombi. “This marks the transition that the Kombi is no longer Nobbi’s - it’s Terrence’s and Terri’s,” Travis announced.

After the HMs had left, TnT stood back and gazed at the new Grey Nomad Mobile.  “Haven’t they done a good job Terri?” Terrence said, looking over his spruced up Kombi.  “Yes they sure have,” Terri agreed, just like a proud Mum.

How will they cope cooped up in the Kombi - together?  Watch this space!
