Nathan & Renee
Perhaps the House’s most unlikely couple, Nathan (the virgin physio) and Renee (the tough talking chick from Dubs) hit it off almost immediately.
When Renee admitted her out-and-out affection for bald-headed men, Nate was quick to respond – bee-lining to the Bathroom to shave whatever trace of hair lingered on his scalp. The gesture didn’t go unnoticed and this romance was on. Nate was smooth. Renee was smitten.
The pair talked up a storm and massaged up a cyclone! Their intimacy had the other Housemates’ tongues wagging. But this relationship was polite and courteous – no spooning here folks! Nathan and Renee connected on an emotional level, Nate making Renee see that she deserved so much and deserved to be “treated like a princess.”
The dance task bought these two closer together and it took a whole week for Renee to feel comfortable enough to look dance partner Nathan square in the eye.
Soft, cuddly, sweet – Nathan & Renee were an odd couple but they made their differences work for them. When Nathan was thrown out in the Double Eviction with Cult Buster David, the romance came to a shuddering halt.
Rory & Rhianna
Rhianna came into the House to “find her Prince Charming” but what she found was Geelong Brickie Rory. And while he may not have had a noble steed, he did have a crown … of dreadlocks!
Initially however the Yummy Mummy wasn’t so sure about the Lothario. “When I first met him, I walked in the gates and he was so big and tall,” Rhianna told us in her post-Eviction chat. “He’s such a boy’s boy, such a big person and I’m so glad that I got to see the marshmallow side of Rory.”
Rhianna got to see more than Rory’s marshmallow side! Of an evening there wasn’t just some dancing doona, there was a fully-fledged doona disco!
Where Nathan and Renee’s relationship was all about the ‘mind,’ this relationship was all about the ‘body.’ The two cuddled up, kissed and spooned – sometimes all at once – both parties enjoying the ability to have some physical presence to snuggle next to on a daily basis.
Rhianna was Evicted in a landslide vote but the single mother remained optimistic and realistic about what might happen on the outside with the Brickie. “Whatever happens out of the House that could be a completely different scenario.”
Ben & Bianca
In another galaxy, not so far away, another Princess was looking for her Prince. Saxon lined up as a possible suitor but Bianca – the fiery Italian Princess – wasn’t having any of his extra-terrestrial charms.
B coasted through the House passionately unattached to anyone but in her last three weeks, Bianca grew closer to the boy set and in particular Head Boy Ben.
But Ben – while smart, funny and good-looking – just couldn’t find it within himself to give Bianca what she really needed: a long, strong, spoon. Nicknamed ‘Mr Awkward’ by ‘Mr Abs,’ Ben found it hard to get physically close to Bianca but had no trouble cracking jokes with her.
A relationship based on laughter more than anything else – BnB closed for business when Bianca was given the boot on Day 70.
Brigitte & Cherry
Originally the chemistry between Brigitte and Cherry looked decidedly fizzy but left to boil for a week, things to began to heat up and bubble. Cherry stopped laying on the hard word, and Bridge began to warm to the Sexy Surfer’s casual charm and cool conversation.
The two became inseparable as Chezza joined the ranks of The Blonde Mice and committed his allegiance to the fair-haired trio. But Brigitte wasn’t letting him into her close confidence just yet and Cherry had to work to steal kisses from the Paris Wannabe.
Eventually Bridgey caved and while sighing to herself that she was starting something “with only two weeks to go,” she kissed and cuddled Cherry with reckless abandon. It was the happiest Brigitte had ever looked in the House.
Brigitte’s complicated relationship status on the outside may have stopped her from opening up early in the game but it seems Cherry came along at the right time. And if it was only a House-specific romance, this buxom blonde doesn’t mind one bit. “I mean this is someone that I’m probably not going to see once I’m outside of the House because we live on different sides of the country so it was just something fun for inside the House,” Brigitte revealed.
