BEN
“What does the Diary Room mean to you?” BB asked. “I’d say just a place of peace and serenity,” expressed Ben. The Head Boy said he feels really relaxed in the DR and enjoys his time there. His darkest moment was last Sunday’s “Big Sting” fake Eviction. Ben called it the biggest anticlimax he had ever experienced. The funniest moment Ben had been through in the DR was when BB asked him to describe what he thinks BB looks like. “I think we had a bit of fun with that … it’s good that you can dish it out just as well as you can take it,” Ben commended BB.
“If you had to make one last Diary Entry how would you say goodbye and pay tribute to the Diary Room?” questioned BB.
“Come here you dog,” Ben said affectionately, as he got up out of the DR chair and went around the back to give it a big bear hug. He embraced the chair and there was definitely a moment. He patted the chair like he’d pat the back of an old friend, a heart felt goodbye indeed. “It’s tough isn’t it BB,” Ben said with only a hint of cheeky humour. “I know, it’s tough for me as well. I love you mate,” he whispered, looking down at the chair that he shared so many memories with.
But when it came to sharing what Ben would tell his grandkids about BB, Ben was a little self-conscious. He said he’d tell them, “That their… grandfather wasn’t actually an emotional little girl,” he started. “And that it actually is tough in there and every single one of my tears was legitimate…” Ben dived into a cranky old man persona and let fly. “You can never give me crap about it because you don’t know until you’ve been in there you, little selfish piece of so-and-so! You don’t talk back to me like that! Show some respect to your old man. I’ll will you how it was, you will listen and you will understand what I’m telling you,” Ben grinned as he finished his mock rant. “It was tough in there and BB picked on me sometimes - and you would cry too if you were in that situation,” he justified.
RORY
Rory was equally as cheeky as he answered BB’s question about what the Diary Room meant to him. “It’s a mysterious place behind a green door where I talk to a man behind a wall,” proposed Rory. “Sometimes conversations are good and sometimes they are bad,” Rory revealed that one of those bad conversations was the “Big Sting” ordeal. “Having to choose two people in a Snap Eviction, was definitely the darkest moment in the DR and in the House,” Rory confessed. But there were good times too! Rory said the high point was when he walked into the Diary Room and found Pamela Anderson sitting on the chair waiting for him.
“Goodbye Diary Room, I’ll miss all the times we had together,” Rory began, matching Ben’s cheeky sarcasm and pretending to wipe tears away from his eyes. Very tongue in cheek Rory, described the features of the Diary Room he’d miss, including bad carpet and the uncomfortable seat. “I’ll miss all those intelligent conversations I had with myself or to the wall,” Rory continued. He said he’d miss waiting for the door to open and miss visiting the DR to request the everyday run of the mill items he needed to get by in the House. “If I could take you into my life on the outside I would, but I‘m sorry - I already have a room of my own. So farewell Diary Room, I do hope to see you around sometime. Take care of yourself. Cheers,” Rory said as he held up a peace sign and blew a kiss to the wall, obviously devastated at having to farewell such a pivotal part of his BB experience.
“It was an experience of a lifetime,” Rory said as he contemplated what he would tell his future spawn about Big Brother. “If they ever get the chance to do something similar, just do it!”
TERRI
“What does the Diary Room mean to you?” BB put to Terri. “I guess it’s a place where I’ve shed a lot of tears,” Terri mused, thinking about all the times she’d been emotional in that very spot. “It’s an unusual place because you feel like you’re talking to nobody. I don’t really like sitting here looking at my face in the mirror, I find that quite disturbing,” admitted the Nanna. Terri said the hardest time she’d experienced in the DR what late one night when BB asked her about her family. “I got very emotional,” Terri revealed. She admitted the highlights and humourous moments were the night of the Big Dig and the search for the prize money – when the Housemates tore apart the beloved chair. “It was funny coming in her here and ripping up the couch,” smiled Terri.
BB asked Terri what she would tell her Grandson and any future grandchildren about her stay in the Big Brother House. Terri told BB she’d, “Tell them that I did it because I felt the need for this show to be more than just about the younger generation.” Terri explained she felt the youth of today were pressured to “always be something extraordinary, instead of just being ordinary people,” She finished by telling BB that it wasn’t always necessary to feel you had to keep seeking for more – sometimes, it was enough to just be yourself.
